Our Tiger Den headed out to the fire station open house tolearn more about what firefighters.
They taught us about the equipment they have, what it is used for and about the different trucks and how they worked.
We even got to climb inside the trucks and check them out!
Then we made some fire safety buttons.
And practiced how to get out of a burning building. First we felt the door to see if it was warm, then we crawled low to the ground and finally climbed out the window to escape.
We got to see the dive rescue equipment while we were there as well. The boat was really cool- it hooks together with other boats, like Legos, and can for a large boat or barge. The orange buoy is a "last seen" marker so they know where to look for someone in water. And how how all the neighboring towns work together on a water rescue operation.
As we wrapped up our day at the fire station, the firefighters hoisted up the ladder truck and demonstrated how they would rescue someone off a roof or other high structure.
As we were walking out, we couldn't pass up taking a moment to pet the therapy dogs they had visiting today! It was a really great time and a lot of fun!

Very nice outing. Looks like the kids had fun and learned at the same time.
